A.I.M. engages pre-service teachers and early career teachers with teaching artists in the local community through residencies, workshops, and university classes.
SCHOOL residencies
Arts Integration Menomonie (A.I.M.) hires local teaching artists to work in regional schools with early career teachers, teacher mentors, and student teachers to deliver arts-integrated instruction to students.
UNIVERSITY COURSe presenters
A.I.M.’s teaching artists provide training on arts integration in teacher education programs at UW-Stout.
CAMP AIM
A.I.M.’s teaching artists serve as lead presenters and facilitators at the Camp A.I.M. summer professional development session for SDMA teachers.
An a.i.m. TEACHING ARTIST IS
A professional artist that is highly skilled in music, theater, dance, visual arts, media arts, circus arts, storytelling, etc.).
Experienced in teaching practices that include planning, communicating, instructing, and engaging students in learning.
A collaborative instructor, proficient at engaging teachers and young people in learning in and through their art form.
Part of a highly skilled local community of artists with experience in educational settings.
TEACHING ARTIST Application
QUALIFICATIONS
A.I.M. employs professional artists in the following fields:
Music, Dance, Visual arts, Media Arts, and other arts-related fields.
Preferred qualifications and experience:
Bachelor’s degree or higher, complementary to the job specifications
An expert in an art discipline
Teaching or teaching-related experience, preferably with elementary students
Experience working collaboratively in a professional environment
Demonstrated enthusiasm around the arts and education
EXPECTATIONS
A.I.M.'s teaching artists are representatives not only of A.I.M. but also of the School District of the Menomonie Area and the University of Wisconsin-Stout. A.I.M.'s teaching artists are experienced professionals who operate with integrity and thoughtfulness.
Expectations, regarding professionalism of A.I.M. teaching artists are:
A demonstrated commitment towards achieving high quality of work
Professional, frequent, and timely communication
Timely submission of paperwork
Prompt attendance
A respectful and positive attitude
A willingness to listen and respond to constructive feedback
