What is your teaching experience so far?
So far, I have had a great experience working with the UW-Stout Child and Family Study Center. It has been amazing to get to know the children and staff in the Infant and Toddler Labs. I can work with multiple ages and because of that, I’m able to do different activities. They already integrate art into their program, so I know that I can smoothly incorporate the arts into daily lessons.
What are you looking forward to about the class you will be teaching?
I am really looking forward to being able to work with multiple art forms in one internship! So far, we have worked with music and painting. I know that because of this I have the capability of doing many different types of projects with the kids. In addition, I am excited to work with the infants/toddlers since I previously worked mostly with preschoolers or older!
What do you hope to learn/gain from this experience?
I am hoping this experience will help me gain skills to introduce art into my lessons. I want to be able to work with my supervisors and other interns to find different ways to do this in my future. Along with that, I hope to work on my personal teaching skills and grow as an educator. By gaining hands-on experience, I want to be able to apply what I am learning now to my future as a teacher.
